Peter Frantz joined our staff as our Director of Christian
Education in September of 2010 and our Youth Director in September
2011. He was born and raised in
Cleveland, Ohio becoming a devoted Browns and Indians fan.
Peter gave his life to Jesus Christ during his High School years.
He says, "For years I had turned myself off to anything
Christian-related having been taught that any religion claiming to
know the truth was just misinformed. But God would have none
of that. After having been homeschooled through middle school,
I definitely felt that I needed to attend a high school in the
community to make some friends and start learning things that my
mother was not able to teach. So God let me to Lutheran High
School West, where I eventually encountered the authentic Jesus for
the first time. It was a scary experience because I realized I
would have to stop living for myself and surrender my needs, my
wants, and my very life to Him. And that is just what I did.
Following Christ had lead him to some very unique locations.
During college he served on a spring break mission trip to
Jamaica where he helped paint an orphanage, spoke the Gospel at a
women’s shelter, did some conversational evangelism on the beach and
met with some Christian school groups in the area.
He graduated from Marietta College with a degree in English.
By this time it had become quite obvious to him
that the Lord was leading him to seminary.
So in the fall of ‘09 Peter packed up all his
stuff and moved to Plymouth, Michigan, where he started at Moody
Theological Seminary.
However, he says that it did not have the element of community that
they had been seeking and they both felt strangely out of place, so
he applied for the Kern Scholarship at Ashland Theological Seminary,
figuring that if God wanted him to go there he would give him the
full-tuition scholarship.
And amazingly, he did!
He says that he is very excited to be a part of our church community, and is excited to build relationships with the youth and work alongside the parents and children in the Christian Education program.
